ES007: Pelecyphora (Escobaria) missouriensis Similis Form (v. similis)

This form of Prairie Pincushion or Foxtail Cactus is noticeably larger in stature than the missouriensis form (ES003) that we also offer.  Whereas the latter is native to Colorado, similis form or v. similis is from further south in Oklahoma and Texas.  The distinctly deep green bodies tend to be solitary and are cloaked with relatively soft, white spines.  The tan/green/pinkish flowers are early in April/May and are effectively peach-colored overall. Spherical scarlet berries adorn the plant from fall through spring.  Very ornamental.  4" H x 6" W, Zone 5.  Sold in 2.5-inch pots.
