Another wonderful, compact form from south of Santa Fe, NM.  This is likely a polyacantha hybrid.  The diamond-shaped pads are cloaked in pinkish spines.  Pink flowers in June are abundant on this well-shielded plant.  This polite variety doesn't take over the whole garden.  It's spines literally shimmer in the sunlight.  It's gorgeous in pots a...
